Former
Kawasaki Team Green Technician, Bill Willian
The current focus of the motocross media seems to be on celebrating
the 25th Anniversary of Kawasaki Team Green's Amateur Race Program's
birth and the first AMA/Loretta Lynn's Amateur National Championship
and taking a look back into the past. Therefore, Suspension Plus,
Inc. would like to start looking back through the years at various
riders and events to not only jog our memories of some of the great
times, we have experienced but also some of the great riders and wonderful
people we have met. We will try to update this frequently so that
we may feature as many things as we can here from the past. Some you
will recognize and remember. Others you will not. And some we will
need your help in identifying. So we thought we would launch this
feature with a golden oldies photo from the 1987 AMA Loretta Lynn's
Amateur National Championship with former Kawasaki Team Green Technician,
Bill Willian, who is now CEO of Suspenson Plus, Inc. |

Former
Kawasaki Team Green Technician, Bill Willian
Bill was a Kawasaki Team Green Technician from 1983-1989. He began
working with Kawaskaki in the Research andDevelopment (R&D) Division
working with Brian Swink, Junior Jackson, Ronnie Tichenor, Larry
Ward, Tommy Watts and Kevin Windham as these riders were usually riding
pre-production bikes. Bill learned how important the proper
suspension set-up was not only to make the bike handle properly on
the track, but to also give the rider a much smoother and safer ride.
And also during this time period, he got lots and lots of experience
changing tires! "Getting to work with Team Green was my first
learning experience to be able to work in a team environment to acquire
so much valuable, hands-on information in the motorcycle industry."
said Willian, who still continues to go to Loretta's each year to
show support to his sponsored riders. He added, "My greatest
moment at Loretta's though was being the mechanic for Tommy Watts
when he won the 250 A Championship!" |
